Pair of original pastel life studies

A striking pair of original pastel life studies, acquired by us during the 1980s and treasured ever since.

Executed with confident, expressive mark-making on dark paper, the drawings have a distinctly academic feel and are reminiscent of the figurative life studies associated with the Slade School of Art. While we cannot attribute them to a particular artist or institution, they possess all the immediacy and vitality of work produced in a traditional life drawing studio.

Over the years these studies have become far more than decorative artworks. They were photographed, digitally reimagined and carefully recoloured during the creation of our Art Room collection, where they became the basis for a series of reproduction canvases inspired by the originals.

As part of our studio archive, they represent a genuine piece of Angel & Boho's creative journey - original artworks that not only adorned our walls but also inspired new work of their own.

The drawings are offered together as a pair. Their original frames show their age and one no longer has its glass, so they may be enjoyed as they are, reframed to suit your own interior, or displayed unframed for a more contemporary gallery feel.

These original drawings retain their vintage frames, which show signs of age and use. One frame is missing its glass. We feel the drawings would also look wonderful professionally reframed, allowing the artwork itself to take centre stage.
